Overview – The Volunteers Without Borders Foundation was established by Track of the Tiger T.R.D. (Tourism Resources Development)
Co. Ltd., an experiential education provider based in Chiang Mai, Thailand to achieve two main objectives:
To use tourism as a development tool, providing opportunity, an equitable share of tourism revenues, and a voice in the decision-making
process of how and where tourism is developed.
To identify, donor fund, and develop projects that match the needs of local communities, whilst serving as a platform for the programmes
(outdoor & environmental education, field research and study, service learning, as well as CS & CSR projects) that Track of the Tiger
provides for its International School, University and Corporate client base.

Community Based Reforestation - Implementing community-based reforestation programmes that provide a viable agroforestry-based income from NTFP (non-timber forest products to which value can be added on-site), and from the responsible tourism trade that those activities allow. Our integrated solutions approach sees donors fund the planting of trees and NTFPs, and the cost of nurturing and protecting them for the first 3 years. Thereafter the revenue from the NTFPs incentivises the long-term protection of the forest and it's endangered flora and fauna for the benefit of our own and future generations. (More Detail.)

Responsible Tourism Development - To establish a more equitably operated platform for the development, marketing, booking and operation of a network of 'tourist routes' linking member responsibly tourism businesses together in a way that improves their access to the market, monitors and uses the customer membership to monitor and report on efforts to follow best practice and service standards, The approach expands tourism beyond the limited boundaries of the destination, for the benefit of the rural communities, and the preservation of customs, culture, lifestyles and the environment. It also helps to reduce the potential for 'overtourtism' in the destination itself. (More Detail.)
